A colleague said subscribing to HOW2s was a bit like buying into a timeshare. Can you explain?
That’s funny.
I guess it is similar to a timeshare in that people buy into timeshares because they want to access the features and benefits but can’t afford to buy it outright.
So, what we do is, talk to prospective subscribers to see if there is a “fit” and whether they like it. At that point, assuming they like it, you could say a prospective subscriber has a choice of building and maintaining their own (at a cost of £$“x“00,000) or paying a small % of this cost each year to access the same features and benefits “as if” they owned it outright.
But here the analogy falls down.
1. You have access ALL the time and as far as your teachers are concerned it is ONLY their space
2. You don’t pay additional fees for content or feature upgrades — the price you join at is pretty much, subject to inflationary increases, what you’ll pay for the duration of your subscription. So we don’t entice you in with a cheap initial offer and then surprises you with additional fees.
