HOW2 Platform Solves the Problem of Individualised Educator Support
Southport Education Group's adoption of the HOW2 Platform drives high staff engagement, addressing the challenge of personalised support and promoting self-directed learning across departments.
Southport Education Group, consisting of Southport College and King George V Sixth Form College (KGV), has partnered with TeachingHOW2s to enhance the professional development of its entire body of educators across both campuses, catering to their unique academic and vocational focuses.
The college group recognised the need for a scalable tool to support teachers at both campuses — Southport College, with its vocational and technical focus, and KGV, which specialises in A‑Level courses.
By providing on-demand access to easy-to-learn teaching techniques, the platform not only saves educators valuable time but also empowers them to adapt their strategies to meet diverse student needs.
According to Caroline Wright, the HOW2 Platform has been instrumental in addressing the challenge of individualisation.
Initial engagement with the platform has been strong, with staff usage reaching 90% across departments in the first month. To facilitate the introduction of the platform, the college focused on The Principles of Instruction, a collection on the HOW2 Platform based on Rosenshine’s principles, which had already been a key focus in their CPD sessions.
This decision helped ensure a smooth introduction to the platform, as staff were already familiar with these principles, setting the stage for its long-term impact on staff development.
By bridging the gap between established teaching principles and modern classroom challenges, HOW2 offers a practical resource for educators at every stage of their careers. It helps normalise discussions around barriers to learning and equips teachers with the tools to address them effectively.
