Sabden Multi-Academy Trust Elevates Teaching with HOW2 Platform Integration
Implementing 'The Sabden Way': Head of Education, Martin Waite, leverages the innovative HOW2 Platform to enhance instructional coaching and foster evidence-informed teaching techniques across Sabden Trust schools.
Sabden Multi Academy Trust, renowned for its commitment to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) education, has embarked on a transformative journey to enhance teaching and learning across its primary and secondary school network.
Spearheading this initiative is Martin Waite, Head of Education (Secondary), who has chosen TeachingHOW2s to complement ‘The Sabden Way’- an in-house, holistic methodology adopted by the schools within the Sabden Multi Academy Trust.
With a focus on driving improvements in teaching and learning, Martin sought to move away from sporadic, non-centralised approaches. Inspired by the acclaimed work of Barak Rosenshine, Martin initially considered creating a bespoke teaching model. However, upon discovering TeachingHOW2s through a colleague, he realised its potential to provide a quick, easy, and evidence-informed solution.
The HOW2 Platform, offering 160+ visually depicted teaching techniques, seamlessly integrates into the trust’s geographically diverse network. It facilitates self-directed learning, encourages peer-to-peer collaboration, and enhances teaching skills for an improved student-learner experience.
About the Sabden Multi Academy Trust
The Sabden Multi-Academy Trust, located in East Sussex, is a small yet growing Trust consisting of five schools that specialise in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. Sabden is committed to fostering a warm and stable atmosphere where both students and staff feel safe and supported. The Trust places a high priority on relationship-based approaches, ensuring that students can access high-quality teaching across a diverse and enriching curriculum.
Recognising the equal importance of social and emotional development alongside academic achievement, the Trust provides substantial enrichment opportunities that not only motivate students but also facilitate the establishment and maintenance of secure relationships.
As the Trust rapidly expands, there is a concerted effort to ensure that all staff receive robust support in their roles and have access to high-quality teaching and learning resources, including the valuable tools provided by HOW2s.
