Introducing our new Community College webinar series

With student completion rates, engagement and enrollment continuing to pose key challenges for community colleges in the US, many institutions have been forced to consider the quality of teaching as a critical component of teaching and learning.

In addition, there is a growing and recognized need for increased collaboration across, among and within disciplines as more and more faculty developers are tasked with creating programs for faculty that span the disciplines, encouraging faculty to inquire into and develop their practice.

But whilst most faculty developers are all too familiar with the challenges that they face, many would argue that finding the right kind of support to assist faculty in their continual development as teachers is not so easy.

Join us for the second of our monthly webinar series for US community colleges which will focus on how Eastern Western Virginia Community and Technical College is embracing the HOW2 app as a faculty-wide solution for improving pedagogy and teaching and learning. 

You will hear from our panel of guest speakers as they explain how the HOW2 app delivers ²⁴⁄₇ evidence-based, instructional coaching expertise and support to full-time and adjunct faculty and encourages both self-directed and cross-disciplinary, collaborative learning. 

We will also be talking in-depth about the HOW2 app’s social learning features which enable the creation of faculty learning communities, facilitating the sharing of best practices and as a result, improved student outcomes.

Curtis Hakala will talk about how he is embracing the HOW2 app to extend ²⁴⁄₇ pedagogical support to faculty, including full-time and adjunct, and to foster a collaborative teaching and learning culture across Eastern college.

Guest Speaker 2

Ranjit Singh will discuss how he first used the HOW2 app when working at West Thames College in London. Now using the app as VP at Hull College in the UK, he discusses its impact on teacher confidence, performance and student learning.
