Train Visual Ltd., the company behind the HOW2s, has always taken the security and handling of customer data seriously. The deadline for the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), set for 25th May 2018, has given us the chance to take an even closer look at our practices.
What is the GDPR and how does it affect you?
The GDPR is the EU’s new data privacy law. It is the world’s most comprehensive data privacy regulation and it will affect every company in Europe and those outside of Europe who have customers within Europe.
It will focus on how businesses collect and handle their customers’ personal data, and ensure that everyone in the EU will have the right to access, correct, delete, and restrict the reprocessing of their data at any time. It also sets forth stringent guidelines around “consent” and how those who interact with a business’s website are allowed to collect and use personal data. We think it’s a good thing.
What constitutes personal data?
The GDPR states that personal data is “any information related to a natural person or ‘Data Subject’ that can be used to directly or indirectly identify the person”. It could, amongst other things, be a name, an email address or even a photo.
What is Train Visual Ltd. (HOW2s) doing to be ready for the GDPR?
We’ve reviewed our existing practices and procedures and, to check our thinking, we’ve engaged a solicitor specialising in all things GDPR. As a result, here’s what we’ve done.
We’ve updated and simplified our Terms and Conditions.
We’ve updated our Privacy Policy.
We’ve updated our Cookie Policy.
We’ve checked to make sure all the companies we work with are complying with the GDPR.
Why do you keep my data?
On the whole, we need your data to enable you to log in to the HOW2 web app. We also use it to send you occasional news or tips about our work and using our web app. Rest assured we won’t ever sell or share your data unless we’ve got your permission to do so.
Do I need to do anything?
You won’t need to do anything; just continue to enjoy using HOW2 as you have before. But, if you have any questions or concerns about how we deal with your data, then please contact us at any time and we will be happy to help.
